CORPORATE PROGRAMS

Providing Opportunities To show our thanks, and to support our home state of Oklahoma, SONIC Corp.'s community giving programs are geared toward organizations that provide academic opportunities for Oklahomans ages 4 to 22.

While SONIC values all who are engaged in volunteerism and quality-of-life issues across the United States, we are unfortunately not able to fund all requests. SONIC does not consider cash gifts to:

  • Organizations outside the state of Oklahoma
  • Individuals
  • Private preschool, primary and secondary educational institutions
  • Dinners, luncheons or other forms of indirect support
  • Private foundations
  • Sporting events, including golf tournaments
  • Health-related organizations
  • Political parties or candidates
  • Sectarian, denominational or religious causes/organizations/events
  • Special interest groups such as labor and veterans' organizations

Considerations SONIC Corp.'s philanthropic giving is focused on supporting organizations that are closely aligned to our giving philosophy. When you apply for corporate sponsorship, please keep in mind that SONIC sponsorships are considered within several important contexts: the program as it relates to SONIC's philanthropic guidelines and as it relates to past and current sponsorships. In addition, quality, accountability and the soundness of the organization and program are very important.

SONIC Food Donations Due to our enhanced focus on quality assurance, SONIC does not donate raw food to any organization or community event. Certain restrictions apply to the donation of cooked food. Please contact your local SONIC Drive-In manager to discuss these restrictions.

Apply For Corporate Sponsorship SONIC Corp. accepts sponsorship proposals throughout the year. For requests regarding a specific date, please allow eight weeks notice.

Send all proposals to:

    SONIC Corp.
    Nancy L. Robertson
    Senior Vice President of Communications
    300 Johnny Bench Drive
    Oklahoma City, OK 73104

First Step: Submit A Proposal For Sponsorship
To be considered for sponsorship, you must first submit a brief proposal letter that includes the following information:

  • Cover letter summarizing sponsorship request:
    • Whom the donation will benefit
    • How many people it will benefit
    • How the funds will be used
    • When and where the event/program takes place
    • How much money is requested or whether an in-kind donation would suffice
    • Immediate and long-term achievement goals of the program
  • Internal Revenue Service 501 (c) (3) letter
  • Proposal, including summary of organization's goals and objectives
  • Explanation of sponsorship benefits, including how SONIC's gift will be recognized

Second Step: The Formal Application Process
If your initial proposal is accepted, you may be asked to submit a formal, detailed application. A request to submit a formal proposal does not indicate that your request is approved. Approved sponsorships are verified by mail. SONIC Corp.'s approval of a grant does not guarantee year-after-year sponsorship or involvement, unless it is otherwise agreed upon in the grant contract.

You must include the following information on the formal application:

  • Statement of the program's possible impact
  • Description of the work plan and time frame for accomplishing the program's objectives
  • Who will manage the program
  • If the program is already underway, explain its accomplishments to date
  • Length of time SONIC will be involved
  • A beginning and ending date, if applicable
  • The overall cost for the program
  • How much it costs to maintain
  • Program support beyond SONIC's sponsorship
  • How the program will be sustained
  • How program information will be communicated to the public
  • Description of the how program can be adjusted to achieve maximum results
  • Description of the evaluation process
  • Description of how the overall effectiveness of the program will be evaluated at the end of grant period (in conjunction with providing SONIC a final report)
Once your sponsorship is approved, you and a SONIC representative will complete a grant agreement contract. The contract lists responsibilities of both sponsor and benefactor and is signed by both parties.
