James O'Reilly is senior vice president and chief brand officer for the Oklahoma City-based national headquarters of SONIC®, America's Drive-In®. He holds responsibility for overall brand direction and also oversees the content and implementation of SONIC's integrated technology initiatives designed to enhance customer engagement. O'Reilly joined SONIC as chief marketing officer in February 2012.
O'Reilly brings more than 20 years of senior level leadership in consumer driven marketing, brand management and product development, including extensive experience within the quick service restaurant segment to SONIC. He most recently served as the Chief Concept Officer of Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. where he was responsible for several functions for the organization including marketing, research & development, and information technology. His leadership of these areas led to the creation of several new menu items and drove positive same store sales growth.
O'Reilly joined Einstein Noah after 13 years with YUM! Brands. He served in progressive roles throughout the YUM! system including international roles with KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Yum! Restaurants International, CMO of KFC, and SVP US Marketing of YUM! Brands. Prior to his tenure with YUM!, James spent five years with Procter & Gamble's Canadian division.
O'Reilly has a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and an M.B.A. with a concentration in marketing and strategy from York University in Toronto, Ontario.
He and his wife, Marie, live in Oklahoma City and have two sons.
